New steering committee for DEFF

Denmark’s Electronic Research Library (DEFF) has a new steering committee with managing director Mai Buch as chairwoman.

DEFF is a cooperation organisation with more than 200 participating libraries in Denmark. DEFF ensures current development of the libraries and exploitation of the libraries’ resources through joint coordination of projects.

The coordination committee for DEFF, which consists of top management representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Agency for Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Education, has appointed the new steering committee and its chairwoman for a four-year period from 2009 to 2012. The steering committee works exclusively to further DEFF’s objectives and interests.

The new steering committee consists of:
• Managing Director Mai Buch (chairwoman), Competencehouse
• Director General Jens Thorhauge, Danish Agency for Libraries and Media
• Deputy Director Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard, The Royal Library
• Director General Svend Larsen, State and University Library
• Development Director Annette Winkel Schwarz,  DTV ViTiS, Technical University of Denmark
• Chief Librarian Niels-Henrik Gylstorff, Aalborg University Library
• Head of Faculty Carsten Riis, Aarhus University, Faculty of Theology
• Librarian Knud Holch Andersen, Thisted Gymnasium
• Principal Lis Randa, Academy of Professional Higher Education Dania
• Library Director Peter Rubeck Olesen, University College UC North Jutland

The new chairwoman of the steering committee, managing director Mai Buch says:
“Accessibility and use of scientific information is to me an absolutely central task in the development of the knowledge society of the future and vital in terms of Denmark’s international positioning.
In this work DEFF will be playing an important role – a role I look forward to being part of together with the new DEFF steering committee”.
